ECEN 4243 Spring 2006 Research Paper/Report


Each student will pick a different research paper topic. Click here to see the list of topics. The topic selection is closed. Papers should be submitted in both hardcopy (paper) format and electronic ASCII text format. Obviously, the ASCII text format will not include fancy formatting, pictures, diagrams, and figures. The library database help files are available as a Microsoft Word document LibraryHelp.doc or as a web page LibraryHelp.htm.

Written communication is an important skill for an engineer. Unguided research of existing knowledge is an essential skill for an engineer. The research reports will be graded based upon the following elements:
Good ReferencesAll papers need proper references
Proper EnglishWritten communication requires Korekt Speelink and Syntax.
Appropriate OrganizationFor Summary Papers, a section listing the summary is followed by a separate section describing each element summarized.
For comparison papers, a section listing the items to be compared is followed by description sections for each item which point out contrasts to other items
For www web site papers, the URL, the title of the web site, and a short description of each website is required.
Most of these papers are tutorial in nature - so some basic or background information is necessary.
For the yearly comparison topics, information from a span of about 4 years is appropriate.
All papers should have a summary or conclusion section. This should restate the basic points of the paper.
